National Outreach Intern (6 Month Opportunity)
Washington DC
To assist us with this work we are seeking an intern to work in our DC office for 6 months (24 weeks).
In this role you will:
- Participate in the development of campaign strategies and tactics by providing creative ideas as well as administrative and logistical support
- Research, write, and edit reports, newsletters, factsheets, blogs, or other materials as needed by the outreach team to conduct their advocacy work
- Assist in preparing presentations on the national outreach team's advocacy work as well as training materials for the National Wildlife Federation organizers and affiliates
- Provide field support to organizers by attending events, participating in phone banks, or tabling at DC-area field events on an "as-needed" basis
- Create or design postcards, banners, posters, stickers or other materials for use in conducting outreach on campaigns
- Provide logistical support in organizing meetings and other events, including arranging travel, taking minutes, and distributing notes and other materials
- Be responsible for administrative tasks including but not limited to: expense reimbursement, databasing petitions or postcards, and distributing materials to the field team, staffing the front desk, and helping to set up for and staff office receptions and other fun events!
- Manage internal tracking of field organizing work and curating comprehensive field reports for internal distribution, reporting to funders, and sharing with White House and Hill staff
The Intern must be available to work a 40-hour weekly schedule.
Qualifications:
- BA or BS, with strong course work or work experience in political science, environmental policy, or related field
- Highly organized and able to successfully create and implement systems to organize people and information
- Experience working on a team and collaborating effectively while also following through on assigned tasks independently
- Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with and among a diverse group of people in DC and across the country
- Creative and innovative problem-solver and strategic thinker who can develop creative solutions at a fast-pace as well as contribute innovative ideas to campaign strategy and tactics
- A track record of managing a lot of tasks with a high-level of responsiveness, attention to detail and a great attitude!
- Experience working on a grassroots organizing or advocacy campaign a plus, but not required
