Internship Opportunities with Maryland Farmland Raptor Program

Andy Brown The manager of the Farmland Raptor Program of the Maryland Bird Conservation Partnership.

Last fall, they mentioned how they were blessed to have one of our students as an intern with our Northern Saw-whet Owl banding program at Lambs Knoll, in Frederick County, Md.

They are currently looking for interns to assist with the Barn Owl and Kestrel nesting programs that we run during the spring and summer.

The interns would be assisting with nest box monitoring, banding of the chicks and adults and collecting morphological data.

Additionally, they will be responsible for completing data entry. They manage nearly 200 Barn Owl boxes and 150 Kestrel boxes throughout the State.

While this is an unpaid internship, They feel it would be a great way for students to gain some practical field experience working with these raptors.
