Ripple Internship

(No official application deadline, so the sooner the better)

Intern:

Role:

  • Ripple is split into nine autonomous sub-teams. The intern will participate in at least one sub-team as a general body member.

  • Participate in at least one other sub-team meeting per week as a note-taker.

  • Meet with the supervisor on an agreed upon regular basis to assist personal progress, answer questions, field ideas, and share meeting notes.

Appointment:

  • Interviewing with the communications team to assess fitness, and to identify an appropriate sub-team for participation.

  • Assignment to a supervisor by the communications team after discussion with the supervisor.

  • Interns may be removed from their role by their supervisor after a mediated review meeting with the communications team. Two warning meetings will precede a meeting with the decision to end an internship prematurely, except in cases of serious misconduct (Harassment, endangerment, intentional hostility to the project’s success).

Location:
Almost all work for this internship will be virtual, largely through participation in video conferencing with teammates around the world. Occasionally there may be opportunities to work and socialize in person with local teammates, and there will be opportunities over the next year to join the team at Fly Ranch in northern Nevada.

Hours:
The expectation will be five hours per week from each intern as a baseline, spent in whatever ways are most appropriate for their unique role. This could look like attending five one-hour sub-team meetings, attending one meeting with four hours of independent progress, etc. At least one of these hours will be for a weekly check-in with the supervisor.

Timeline: This internship will commence as soon as desired, and will be for the duration of the Fall and Winter semesters (or 12 weeks). At the end of that time, we will reassess these terms and discuss moving forward.

Compensation: At present, Ripple is a 100% volunteer based project, and that also applies to this internship. When fundraising (currently underway) allows for paid positions, interns will have the ability to apply to the community for compensation in the same way as any other team member.

Application: Please send an email with the following documents to support@flyripple.org
  • Resume, highlighting practical design experiences
  • Cover letter explaining your goals for personal growth through participation in Ripple, and including general availability for an interview call.
  • A link to a project that excites you, and a brief explanation of why. Biosphere 2, the Moon Landing, The Great Green Wall, you name it.
