Happy Summer AGNR Terps!
I hope you are soaking up the sun and enjoying the last few weeks of summer (I know, I can't believe it either)!
I want to make sure this is on your radar now, given the deadline and how crazy the first week of classes always is:
The Agriculture Future of America (AFA) Leaders Conference is coming up from November 6-9 in Kansas City, Missouri, and applications are open now until September 7. This unique experience provides you with the opportunity to:
- Network with Industry Leaders: Meet and connect with top professionals in the agriculture sector, along with ambitious peers from across the country.
- Discover Career Opportunities: Many students secure internships or full-time positions at the AFA Opportunity Fair, a key feature of the Leaders Conference.
- Develop Your Leadership Skills: Participate in workshops and sessions designed to prepare you for a successful career in agriculture.
- Very Minimal Cost to Attend: The conference is completely free to attend (registration, hotel room, food). The only cost to you is travel, which may be covered by the College of Agriculture & Natural Resources at UMD.
We are hosting a few options to help you learn more about AFA, the Leaders Conference, and answer questions about your application:
- Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Fri September 2-5: Drop-in Virtual Q&A Sessions with UMD's AFA Ambassador, Malique Fowler
- Thursday, Sept 4: AFA Leaders Conference Application Night
- Free pizza! We'll answer your questions about Leaders Conference, the application, and anything else about AFA
- Information for all, HERE
We hope to see you there!
