🦇Applications Are Open: MTBC Scholarship

Antoniya Hubancheva Award Applications are Open
September 30 – November 1, 2025

We are delighted to announce that applications for the Antoniya Hubancheva Award open TODAY. Applications will be accepted until November 1, 2025.

This award provides critical support for bat researchers, conservationists, and students worldwide—especially those from developing countries—who are working on projects of exceptional value to bat conservation.

The Antoniya Hubancheva Award was established in honor of our first scholarship recipient, "Toni" Hubancheva, whose career trajectory continues to inspire. With early MTBC support, Toni went on to earn a Ph.D. in bat research, make groundbreaking discoveries, and share her work with international media.

In 2025, MTBC awarded $5,000 to Juan Pellón of Peru for his year-round monitoring of the rare Peruvian long-snouted bat, a critical pollinator facing growing threats. Three additional scholars from Mozambique, Costa Rica, and the United States were each awarded $2,500 to advance their outstanding projects.

We look forward to receiving applications from the next generation of bat conservation leaders and supporting innovative research that helps secure a brighter future for bats.
