Arcadis is seeking a self-motivated, mid-level Environmental Scientist, Environmental Planner or Environmental Engineer to support a growing base of projects in our Wexford, PA or Hanover, MD office. This is a position for a dynamic individual looking for career growth in environmental consulting.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Leading aquatic resource delineations and supporting botanical and wildlife presence/absence surveys, habitat assessments in accordance with appropriate regulatory guidelines/requirements for linear projects.
- Interpreting engineering plans, topographic maps, and aerial imagery.
- Utilizing GPS units and other scientific tools and equipment to complete tasks.
- Preparing wetland delineation reports, functional assessments, mitigation plans, and environmental compliance/permitting documents.
- Assisting Project Managers (PMs) and Assistant PMs (APMs) with environmental permitting strategies and execution.
- Exhibiting ownership of delegated tasks, including responsibility for coordination and delivery of on-schedule and on-budget tasks.
- Preparing technical reports and permit applications, including data entry, data interpretation, and statistical evaluations and technical writing.
The selected candidate will have:
- Experience interpreting engineering plans, topographic maps, and/or aerial imagery.
- Working knowledge of Trimble GPS Units, ArcGIS, and other scientific tools and equipment.
- Experience identifying flora and fauna native to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
- Ability to conduct field work for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, while carrying equipment and supplies weighing greater than 20 pounds across rugged terrain.
- Knowledge of basic health and safety procedures.
Candidates with the following skills/experience are encouraged to apply:
- Knowledge of Federal and State environmental regulations and associated permitting guidelines, particularly in Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
- Experience following the USACE 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual and Regional Supplements.
- Experience leading wetland delineations in Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
- Experience preparing stream assessments for restoration planning/monitoring studies and designs.
- Wetland design/restoration experience.
- Erosion & Sedimentation Inspection experience.
- B.S. in Environmental Science, Engineering or closely related field
- 2+ years of experience
