Frederick Soil Conservation Technician
Summary
This position is located in the Northeast Region, Field Operations Office in Frederick, Maryland. The incumbent will be responsible for providing assistance to the Soil and Water Conservation District. The incumbent will also work with landowners to apply and maintain a number of conservation practices and review of financial assistance requests under the provision of federal, state, and possibly agriculture programs.
Responsibilities
- Assists in conducting field investigations, surveys, and assembly of data needed in the development of conservation practices for structural solutions to problems with water quality, erosion, drainage, and irrigation.
- Assists the District Conservationist in developing large area resource conservation plans; compiles resource information, prepares maps; and interprets soil survey data for use in conservation planning.
- Provides planning information to local government, district personnel, rural and community residents, and other entities for the development other natural resources projects such as flood control projects, paths, trail ways, and wildlife habitats.
