The Role:
We are seeking one Field Service Technician to start in October 2026, for service and install work at multiple collaborator research field locations throughout the US. This position will be based out of College Park, MD. This role involves extensive hands-on work maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing field and lab equipment, with frequent stooping, lifting, climbing, and use of both manual and powered tools. Candidates should be comfortable traveling up to 50% of the time and using technical manuals, diagnostic tools, welding and grinding equipment, and computers to perform repairs, document work, and update equipment systems.
Requirements
● Bachelor's degree with 1 year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., Associate degree with 3 years, or High School diploma/GED with 5 years)
● Full-time availability, flexible for year-round deployment (up to 50% travel) ● Comfortable performing physical tasks: stoop, kneel, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, climb on/under equipment
● Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially in a client-facing environment ● Must have a valid state driver's license and be able to drive long periods of time ● Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Preferred Experience/Skills
● Hands-on mechanical experience with trucks, tractors, and field equipment ● Experience driving forklifts, tractors, trailers, and other heavy equipment ● Has used technical manuals, parts diagrams, and diagnostic instruments, including a
multimeter, basic tools (hand, power, welding, grinding), and some knowledge of AC/DC circuits
● Basic computer and electronics proficiency, including documentation, data entry, and troubleshooting electronic issues
● Flexible, detail-oriented, willing to learn

● Anticipated salary range: $28 - $32/hour, based on experience
