New internship opportunity with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is looking for a student natural resource technician
This is a UNPAID - Part-Time (16-24 hours of work per week)
Location: Brandywine MD, Prince George's County
The main purpose of this position is to provide assistance to fisheries-related tasks, both in the field and in the laboratory, relating to freshwater sportfishing management. The selected candidate will assist with fyke net surveys to assess fish communities in inland impoundments (reservoirs and ponds); electrofishing, seining, and lab work to assess tidal freshwater fisheries habit and tidal bass populations; backpack electrofishing to assess inland stream fish communities; providing fisheries-related education and outreach at community fishing-oriented events; and other groups within fisheries with fieldwork on Maryland’s coastal bays, the Chesapeake’s brackish, tidal rivers, and special projects relating to inland fisheries habitat improvement projects.
The internship runs ten weeks between June and August. The specific start/end dates, hours, and schedule will be determined in collaboration between the intern and supervisor.
