Brown Environmental 13 is seeking qualified applicants to fill a seasonal technician position for
spring and summer 2020. The applicant should have field experience and the necessary skills to
manage bat acoustic surveys, manage data, and run acoustic analysis software programs. There
will be opportunities to assist with mist net, tracking, and cave surveys. This is a temporary
position; however, there is potential for an extension into fall surveys.
Job Description:
Applicants can expect to work long days with constant travel. This position requires lifting heavy
equipment, working and hiking in challenging environments, rugged and uneven terrain. Daily
duties include hiking equipment into remote sample sites, setting up acoustic equipment, data
management and preliminary software analysis, and assisting with mist net, tracking, camera
and cave surveys.
Minimum Qualifications:
➢ One year or more experience of setting up and managing bat acoustic surveys
➢ Experience with managing acoustic data and running preliminary software analysis
➢ Willing to travel for extended amounts of time
➢ Available for survey season April 14 – August 30. Start date negotiable.
➢ Good communication skills, concise data documentation, detail oriented, well organized, self-motivated, positive attitude, professionalism, and a team member.
➢ Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
➢ Experience with GPS and hiking into remote locations with steep terrain
➢ Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record
➢ Not required: mist net and tracking experience a plus
