Woodland Wildlife webinar: Sea Level Rise, Ghost Forests, and the future of Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge

October 20, 2021, 12 noon
Online

Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Dorchester County, Maryland is experiencing rapidly changing habitats due to rising seas. Marshes are drowning and converting to open water and forests are converting to tidal wetlands. All of these changes impact habitat quality and conservation efforts. Matt will discuss the history of these changing conditions, what we currently know, and some potential paths forward. Presented by:  Matt Whitbeck, Supervisory Wildlife Biologist, Chesapeake Marshlands NWR Complex.
