Data Manager for USFWS
The Data Manager will support the US Fish & Wildlife service by analyzing data collected and create databases, including a GIS database.
Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)
Create databases from existing data from the 8 states within Legacy R3.
Create and maintain tools to compile and QA databases using R software.
Compile, assess the adequacy and quality, and correct data as necessary.
Develop and update a database/products user guide.
Provide guidance and training to data end users and develop tools for biologists and managers to interface with databases.
Develop new data analysis methods and tools and create standard products using a variety of statistical software/techniques and GIS mapping tools.
Create and update metadata for multiple databases.
Designate and update metadata for multiple databases.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Abilities
Working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems, database management, R software and statistical analysis of wildlife mortality data from wind facilities.
Be able to independently collate and standardize existing data into databases, including a GIS database.
Ability to conduct complex statistical analysis.
Drug Screen and Background Check: Pass with the ability to maintain throughout employment.
Ability to pass and maintain Department of Interior Background Investigation and obtain approval.
Must meet COVID-19 vaccination requirements under EO14042.
Minimum Experience & Education
Associate degree in Information Technology or similar field required, or equivalent combination of education, training, and 2-5 years of experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or similar field preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills and must be capable of interacting effectively with diverse groups.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
