Job Announcement: Natural Resources Biologist I 

The main purpose of this position is to conduct water quality surveys for the Water Quality Monitoring Program to assess the health of Maryland waters. The Water Quality Monitoring Program is responsible for the collection and assessment of water quality data for the Chesapeake Bay, Non-tidal Network, Core/Trend, Coastal Bays, Water Quality Mapping (Dataflow) and Continuous Monitoring Programs. These surveys collect monthly water quality data year-round from over 200 stations statewide. Four vacancies are available.

This position may require working long and flexible hours including on-call weekend duty supporting a two-person sampling team assigned to collect storm loading data at critical freshwater stations that send sediment and nutrients to Chesapeake Bay. Fieldwork is conducted year-round from boats, piers, bridges with high-speed traffic, and within streams. A valid driver’s license and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. is required to complete field duties. Office duties include cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of sampling equipment, preparation of sampling supplies, and delivery of samples to the laboratory.
