GWR wildlife chemical capture course at the ICC near Fairhope PA Oct. 20-22, 2026

Dr. Mark Johnson DVM of Global Wildlife Resources (GWR) will be teaching a 3-day wildlife chemical immobilization training course at the International Conservation Center near Fairhope, PA on Oct. 20-22 (Tues-Thurs), 2026.

 

This training covers domestic, captive, and free-ranging wildlife. It is designed for state, federal, tribal wildlife professionals, zoo & sanctuary caretakers, college students, and animal control officers.

 

GWR courses are the most current, extensive, and practical chemical capture courses in North America. Dr. Mark will present field-based tools and techniques which maximize success, safety, and confidence. Dr. Mark customizes each course to meet the needs of the participants.  His support and advising is available even after the course is complete.

 

This course provides 16 CEUs for the TWS Professional Development Program.

It is RACE-approved for 19.5 hours CE for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

This course is also recognized by NACA for certification.

 

Lodging is Available

The International Conservation Center has lodging that can help you save both time and money. They have three bunk-style cabins with 8 bunks each (bunks only), communal kitchen, fire pit, and shared bathrooms. All are located at the top of a beautiful wooded hill. Lodging in these cabins are available for $35 per person, per night.

HANDS-ON LABS EACH DAY

·         Chemical Immobilization - participants immobilize domestic goats which simulate deer

·         TPR Lab - a practice lab with domestic goats to prepare for the chemical immobilization lab

·         Drug Delivery Systems - opportunity to practice the most effective dart guns

·         Needle & Syringe Skills - building professional habits for practical field use and human safety

·         Blood Collection Practice Station - practice proper techniques for successful blood collection

 

These courses are often profound personal and professional experiences.

 

The course is limited to 30 participants so register early!

Each day is 9am-5:30pm. The 3-day course fee is $785 general/ $650 for university students (full-time).
