Listed below are key points and eligibility requirements to retain UM merit (i.e. Banneker/Key, Dean’s, President’s, Transfer Academic Excellence Scholarship (TAES) and Maryland Transfer) scholarships:
Students must register for a minimum of 12 credits per term.
Students must maintain a minimum 3.20 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at the
conclusion of each fall and spring terms.
Students must successfully complete 30 credits per academic year –
o The student must average 15 credits per term over the fall and spring terms to meet
the 30 credit requirement.
o Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and other pre-college
credits are not counted towards the 30 credit requirement.
o Audited and waitlisted courses do not count toward the 30 credits completion
requirement.
The student may take courses on or off-campus during the winter and summer terms to make
up any necessary credits, but the cost of these courses is not covered by UM merit scholarships.
