PAID environmental summer internship

Undergraduate Summer Internship Program 

Our team of scientists and educators at CONSERVEDAWN and the Global FEWture Alliance seek undergraduate students who are interested in completing summer internships with our teams. Students who complete internships with us are typically interested in pursuing graduate degrees in the fields of environmental health sciences, agricultural and natural sciences, public health, atmospheric and oceanic sciences, water resources management, data analytics, policy and law, environmental education and communications, and other relevant areas.

 

With projects located throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and globally we are looking for undergraduate student summer interns to assist us in our research, extension and education efforts. A central goal of our program is to advance the participation of BIPOC (black, indigenous and people of color), women and persons with disabilities in STEM fields relevant to the food, energy, water, climate, health nexus. The 10-week internship will start on June 3, 2024 and end on August 09, 2024. Interns selected for positions within the United States will be granted a stipend of $6,000. Those chosen for positions outside the United States will receive a competitive wage for that country, as outlined on the individual position pages.  Additional funds for expenses (e.g., travel, lodging, per diem) are not provided. We are accepting applications from now until February 09, 2024.

 The Do Good Institute's Impact Interns applications are now open! Impact Interns connects University of Maryland students with paid internships with nonprofit and social impact organizations. Impact Interns is perfect for students that want to create a positive social impact and develop professionally over the course of the summer. Are you ready to get your feet wet with stream condition studies, stormwater mitigation strategies, and ecological restoration science? 

Montgomery Parks, part of the Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission, is hosting two paid, part-time seasonal employment opportunities based in the Wheaton Headquarters located at 2425 Reedie Drive, Wheaton, MD 20902.     

Candidates eager to monitor stream health and protect waterways from pollution will work alongside specialists in the Resource Analysis section to implement a variety of biological monitoring, ecological restoration, stormwater management, and GIS projects.  

Position 1 - Resource Analysis Program Assistant (Technician): March 2024 – October 2024 

Position 2 - Resource Analysis Program Assistant (Summer Internship): May 2024 – August 2024 

 Positions average 24-32 hours per week, scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and involve considerable time outdoors collecting data in streams and wetlands and along stormwater infrastructure. Candidates will receive specialized training and work to grow skills conducting water quality assessments and pollution investigations, processing biological samples, calibrating and maintaining equipment, reviewing and analyzing datasets, and communicating results to an array of audiences.

Gilman Study Abroad Scholarship for Pell Grant Recipients/US Citizens

Are you an undergraduate student, Pell Grant recipient, and U.S. citizen? Are you interested in studying abroad? You may be eligible to apply for the U.S. State Department’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, which provides up to $5,000 for studying or interning abroad! Gilman also provides a supplemental Critical Need Language Award of up to $3,000 and a $1,000 STEM Award!


In the last two years 82 UMD students received the Gilman scholarship, with a 36% acceptance rate! These students won a total of $329,500! 🎉👏🎉
