Harmful Algal Bloom Research Scientist Position for New York State Department of Environmental Conservation

The NYSDEC Division of Water (DOW) in Albany, NY is developing a HAB Roadmap to serve as a five-year guide to help understand and address HABs and their impacts. The Roadmap includes six focus areas along with associated actions in the form of projects and tasks that will guide NYSDEC in accomplishing its mission to protect and conserve the water resources of NYS. To achieve the goals of the HAB Roadmap, the DOW requires employment of a Research Scientist through the SUNY Research Foundation to support the implementation of the Roadmap and advance DOW HAB research and understanding. The Research Scientist will assist in carrying out many tasks such as identifying and prioritizing research, conducting water quality and HAB monitoring, and coordinating and implementing other DOW priority areas as defined in the job description. Funding is available for two years with potential for extension to support the five year timeline of the Roadmap. This opportunity is open until filled but candidates should aim for application by 1/5/24 for optimal consideration.
