About the Internship
Montgomery County, Maryland, is at the forefront of local climate action. Through its Climate Action Plan and commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions 100% by 2035, the County is implementing innovative policies and programs to reduce emissions, build resilience, and promote environmental justice.
The Montgomery County Executive’s Office is seeking Summer Climate Interns to support this work. Interns will gain hands-on experience with local government climate efforts, including policy research, program support, and a strong focus on communications and community outreach. Interns will be on-boarded and paid through a temporary services agency and will be detailed to the County for the internship duration.
Position Details
- Location: hybrid, with 2-3 days a week in office at 101 Monroe St. Rockville, MD and 1-3 days remote
- Duration: 7 weeks, June 15, 2026 – July 31, 2026
- Hours: 20–40 hours, schedule set during onboarding
- Compensation: $17.60 per hour
- Eligibility: Open to current college or graduate students; Montgomery County residents preferred
