Graduate Programs

Openings for the following fully-funded studentship positions:

1.      Ph.D. in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies (4-5 years); concentration: environmental economics.
2.      M.Sc. in Environmental Economics (2 years);
3.      M.Sc. in Agricultural Sciences (2 years); concentration: sustainable food systems.
The positions include full tuition, an estimated 9-month academic year base stipend of ~ US $20,000, an additional optional summer stipend (~$6,000), and health insurance. The official start date for the programs and positions is August 19, 2019. A summer research assistantship is also available before the official beginning of the appointments (June or July 2019).

Pre-application screening: Please send the following materials to Dr. Shadi Atallah by email (Shadi.Atallah@unh.edu): (1) Statement of purpose describing your interest in the proposed research projects, demonstrating knowledge of some of the relate literature, and highlighting the related qualifications; (2) Resume indicating your academic preparation, relevant coursework, and research and work experiences; (3) Contact information for three academic or professional references; (4) Copy of all undergraduate transcripts (and graduate transcripts, if applicable), GRE scores, and TOEFL scores (if applicable and especially for positions #1 and #2 that include teaching assistant duties); and (5) a writing sample (thesis chapter or academic paper). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until March 25th at which point pre-selected candidates will be asked to apply to the UNH Graduate School by March 31st, 2019.

Dissertation topic: Bioeconomics and machine learning for robust integrated pest management decision support systems.
Preferred academic backgrounds: B.Sc. and M.Sc. in agricultural, environmental, resource economics; quantitative ecology; ingénieur agronome; computer science.

2.      M.Sc. in Environmental Economics (2 years);
Where: Department of Natural Resources and the Environment (NREN), College of Life Sciences and Agriculture (COLSA) at UNH;
Thesis topic: Bioeconomics of ecosystem services in shade-grown coffee.
Preferred academic backgrounds: B.Sc. in agricultural, environmental, resource economics; quantitative ecology; ingénieur agronome; computer science.

3.      M.Sc. in Agricultural Sciences (2 years); sustainable food systems concentration.
Where: Department of Agriculture, Nutrition, and Food Systems (ANFS), COLSA, UNH.
Thesis topic: Production economics of sustainable aquaculture and aquaponics.
Preferred academic backgrounds: B.Sc. in agricultural, environmental, resource economics; engineering (incl. ingénieur agronome); computer science.
