United Soybean Board Programs for Environmental Science Students

The United Soybean Board (USB) wanted to share some of their work and programs that may be of interest to you. Below is a quick overview with links to more information.

Collegiate Biobased Network (CBN):  This no-cost professional development organization is for college and university students with an interest in biobased products, sustainability, green chemistry and more. It is designed to connect students with biobased industry leaders and fellow interested students. CBN is supported by the USB and offers webinars and other educational and future career connections.

Soy Innovation Challenge:  The Yield Lab Institute, in partnership with USB, Syngenta, Amazon Web Services and the ICL Group held a challenge that delivered game-changing technologies designed to disrupt the current soybean value chain to create increased profitability for U.S. soybean farmers. Winners were announced in March. I’m not yet sure if there will be another challenge next year.

7th UMD Environmental Justice Symposium Presentations Submissions

The Center for Community Engagement, Environmental Justice, & Health (CEEJH) and 17 for Peace and Justice are pleased to announce the call for panelists and posters for the 7th Annual University of Maryland Environmental Justice and Health Disparities Symposium, to be held August 19 - 20, 2021.

In celebration of CEEJH’s tenth anniversary of research, service, and action in the DC region and beyond, conference organizers are seeking presentations and posters from community members, activists, researchers, students, and government officials. Looking toward the future of environmental justice work, we forge into our second decade with a call for intersectional perspectives on environmental justice. Last year’s combination of systemic racism, infectious disease, and climate crisis brought forth a national syndemic for people of color. Now, more than ever, we seek to highlight the forgotten, overlooked, and unheard voices of vulnerable communities existing within our field.

Submissions for poster and panel presentations will be open until 11:59pm, June 4th, 2021. Please share the following links with anyone whom you believe may be interested in either presenting at the 7th Annual UMD EJ Symposium or simply attending.

Students work in teams, self-manage, problem-solve, think critically, conduct interviews, and learn how to present relevant information to a target audience.
