ATI provides environmental engineering, remediation, and construction services, as well as  Military Munitions Response Program support to the U.S. Department of Defense, including the  U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Interior, U.S.  Department of Energy, and other federal and state government clients. Currently, ATI is seeking a Staff Environmental Scientist in our Columbia, MD office. The Staff  Environmental Scientist will be responsible for supporting multiple projects primarily across the  US including multi-year Performance Based Remediation (PBR) contracts, and emerging  contaminant (PFAS) investigations and remediation. 

Responsibilities 

The successful candidate will be responsible for: 

leading various field assignments including drilling oversight; 

field team leader for environmental investigation and remediation projects; collecting environmental samples from environmental media, including soil, groundwater,  surface water, and sediment; 

data management support; 

developing data tables, figures, and reports; 

developing boring logs and review/interpretation of geological boring logs. 

In addition, the candidate will be responsible for office work under the direction of individual  project managers. Must be a team-oriented person willing to conduct a variety of field  assignments and write cohesive report sections on the evaluation of investigative and  remediation results. 

Required/Preferred Skills 

Required skills include knowledge of environmental investigations and remediation projects  regulated by RCRA and CERCLA; must be able to execute multiple tasks concurrently as field  team leader; excellent communication and organizational skills; experience working under  detailed quality assurance/quality control programs. 

Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and other MS Office applications. 

Preferred Experience 

A minimum of 4 years of environmental field investigation experience, although training  while working is available. 

Preparation of work plans and project deliverables. 

Field subcontractor oversight inclusive of soil borings and well installations utilizing  various drilling methods. 

Collection of water, soil, and soil vapor samples utilizing various sampling techniques. 

Required Education 

Minimum of B.S. degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Scientist,  Biology, or related field.
