The Agricultural Service Lab Chemists and other lab staff work in a very team-oriented environment to provide analytical services to the agricultural, horticultural, and research communities by utilizing their chemistry, biology, and related laboratory science skills to prepare samples and operate highly technical equipment for ~60,000 samples annually.
In this position the chemist performs quantitative chemical analyses of inorganic and organic samples by operating and maintaining sophisticated laboratory equipment, while ensuring quality control and safety, and performs other duties as assigned. This position especially contributes to animal waste and plant analyses critical to livestock producers and growers, primarily focusing on nitrogen analytes.
