Postdoctoral Researcher in Coastal Ecology

Description: The University of Central Florida’s National Center for Integrated Coastal Research is
seeking an enthusiastic and energetic person for a postdoctoral research position in fish ecology and
ecosystem modeling. The candidate will collaborate on current and future projects in the Lewis Lab for Applied Coastal Ecology (LLACE), headed by Dr. Kristy A. Lewis. This position will be funded for two years, with opportunity for extension pending grant funding.

The successful candidate will be able to work on various facets of research including, but not limited to:
modeling responses of fish species to hypoxia, social-ecological projects using integrated data to help
predict responses of human communities to environmental disasters, a newly proposed playbook to
better monitor and track Florida Red Tide using GIS, and development of a food web model in the IndianRiver Lagoon. The postdoc will also be encouraged and given time to publish previous work/dissertation research, while also writing new proposals of interest. Opportunities to expand the postdocs skillset will also be provided, such as drone piloting and analysis and teaching.

Qualifications: A PhD is required in fisheries science, oceanography, aquatic ecology, marine sciences or related fields. Advanced experience with GIS is desired. Experience in food web modeling using Ecopath with Ecosim and Ecospace (EwE) is a plus. Applicants with skills in R, SAS, Python, or VB.NET will be given particular attention.
