club meeting for American Ecological Engineering Society (AEES)

Many ENSTers, especially those majoring in EcoTech Design, may be interested in joining AEES. Below is more information from the club's president.

Hi!
The UMD Chapter of the American Ecological Engineering Society (AEES) is currently looking for enthusiastic new members to join our community. We are an interdisciplinary club dedicated to spreading awareness about the benefits of ecological engineering as it relates to sustainability through service based activities, student driven projects, and career-building workshops. Ecological engineering is a relatively new field that focusing on developing innovative ways to combine human society with the natural environment for the benefit of both. We welcome all majors and have a role for everyone including those interested in engineering, design, policy, communication, eco-tech, environmental science, computer science, and much more!

It is our goal to provide students at UMD with the guidance, resources, and connections to design, experiment, and build their own projects right here on campus. Currently, we have three major ongoing projects including the construction of a Green Wall, an Algal Terf Scrubber, and the restoration of Campus Creek. We are always welcome to the introduction of new projects as well!

If you are interested in our club, we encourage you to attend our New Member Interest Meeting on Monday, September 27th from 6 pm to 7 pm in the ANS building, room 0422. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at umd.aees@gmail.com. We can’t wait to meet you!

Best,
Kat Close
