MANRRS Announces Cargill thrive Scholarship

MANRRS is excited to announce a continuation and expansion of its partnership with Cargill, with the launch of the new Cargill thrive Scholarship!
 
Purpose of Scholarship:

The Cargill University thrive program was created to ensure more equitable access for women and minority students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), as well as agriculture and business. Focused on universities serving minority students, the thrive program provides financial support through scholarships and expands further to encourage long-term academic success through mentoring development programming, and career coaching. The goal is to help participating students convert their education into meaningful careers. 

Description:

The Cargill thrive Scholarship provides students with financial support and additional development, mentorship, and networking opportunities throughout the year, including a trip to Cargill’s Headquarters in Minneapolis, MN for a 2-day development and networking event in the spring/summer*

*Note: Trip is contingent on current CDC and Cargill Policy as it relates to the COVID pandemic.  

Scholarship Awards and Eligibility Requirements:

Scholarships are a one-time, one-year award to be distributed to 20 students up to $1,500 each, which is inclusive of support to attend the National Conference at $1,000 plus a $500 award upon completion of the scholarship program.

Timeline

  • October 11 - Launch application prior to career fair / MANRRS to promote around Regional Cluster Events
  • November 15 - MANRRS to review and select recipients based on criteria above
  • December 1 - MANRRS selects recipients and notify scholarship recipients soon afterward
  • December 2021 – January 2022 - Cargill to provide regular development content starting in December 2021.
  • March 23-24 - Students will participate in the thrive Scholars program during MANRRS at National Conference (March 23-24).
  • Spring 2022 - Students will also be recognized by MANRRS at National Conference (March 26 - in-person).
  • Summer 2022 - Students will attend the capstone Diversity Leadership Summit Event at Cargill’s HQ in the Summer of 2022.
  • Summer 2022 - Upon completing the program, students will receive the balance of their scholarship award funds from MANRRS.
