Paid fall internships with National Park Service

Students check out these internships with the National Park Service

The University of Maryland has a partnership with the National Park Service to provide paid internships for UMD students. We have four paid internship positions available for the upcoming academic year, three of which require expertise outside the life sciences (i.e., GIS and engineering). Interns will work closely with the NPS Urban Ecology Research Learning Alliance’s Science Education Coordinator. Students must be enrolled in a degree program at the University of Maryland

  1. Forest Ecological Services (Hybrid) Internship - Ecologist (deadline for applications September 22 at 5pm): Seeking a graduate student or an upper-level undergraduate student with interest in Geographic Information Systems, Land Use Mapping, or similar to work as part of a team to evaluate NPS data and publications to identify potential sources of ecosystems services conferring human wellbeing.
  2.   3. Leave No Child Inside Environmental Education Media Editing Internship (deadline for applications August 20 at 5pm or until filled) : Seeking a graduate student or an upper-level undergraduate student with academic training in science education, outdoor/environmental education, resource management, or similar with experience creating online media and familiarity using editing software. The intern will film and edit video content for Leave No Child Inside Programming and ensure virtual educational program material is ADA compliant meeting NPS accessibility standards. Educational materials are designed to bring outdoor educational information about Dumbarton Oaks Park to Pre-K to 12 students.
  4. STEM Resources for Pierce Mill Internship (deadline for applications August 20 at 5pm or until filled): Seeking a graduate student or an upper-level undergraduate student with academic training in engineering, science education, outdoor/environmental education, resource management, or similar with experience creating online media and familiarity using editing software. The intern will refine and edit virtual educational program material to be ADA compliant meeting NPS accessibility standards. Educational materials are designed to bring information about Peirce Mill’s machinery to 4th to 8th-grade students. They will include short videos of the mill’s machinery in action and downloadable directions for hands-on activities.
