Interested in learning how to become a hunter, but don't know where to start?
Then this Hunting 101 workshop workshop is for you. Held at Point Pleasant Farm on April 11, the workshop is geared to folks with little to no knowledge about hunting, but who would like a primer on the topic before diving into getting a hunter education certificate.
The workshop will provide a chance to learn about wildlife biology, hunting tactics, and gear that aren't covered in the hunter education course. Agenda below.

9:15-9:30 Hunting Ethics and Connections to Conservation

9:30-10:30 Rules and Regulations Overview
Candy Collison - Maryland DNR
Candy will demystify hunting regulations and the license buying process through a short presentation, followed by a hands-on activity to solidify your understanding
10:30-11:30 Before the Hunt
Geared towards novice hunters, this session dives into game biology and scouting techniques through a presentation, culminating in a hands-on outdoor activity to put your knowledge to the test.
11:30-12:30 Lunch (provided)
Gear Q&A
Multiple display tables will be set up with hunting essentials for your perusal during the lunch break. Instructors will be hanging around, prepared to answer any gear related questions you may have
12:30-1:30 Firearms Introduction
This session provides a safe introduction to firearms, covering basic hunter safety rules, and
showcasing various firearm types through demonstrations with non-functional models
1:30-2:30 Stand and Blind Demos
Chris Markin - Maryland DNR
Chris will break down different types of hunting blinds and stands through hands-on demonstrations, giving you a chance to try them for yourself.
2:30-3:00 After the Hunt
This session will provide an overview of tracking, field dressing, and game processing resources through a short presentation and an outdoor activity.
This event will be photographed and video-recorded for sharing online after the event.
