Work Location: School of Renewable Natural Resources, LSU Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Position is eligible for remote work.
Position Description: A multi-investigator team based at LSU AgCenter is seeking a Research Associate to serve as a remote sensing specialist and data scientist for ongoing research designed to inform waterfowl and wetland conservation and management. Primary responsibilities will include providing data science support for existing projects, primarily in the form of accessing and preparing remotely sensed datasets for analysis. Remote sensing skillsets will be used to support current projects that seek to quantify spatial and temporal changes across regional landscapes, including landcover, surface inundation, and drought severity. While primary duties will be computer based, providing some logistical field support may be required. In-person work at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA is preferred but permanent remote work may be considered for eligible applicants.
Qualification Requirements: Bachelor's degree required focused on spatial ecology, wildlife conservation, ecological data science / statistics, or related fields. Experience: demonstrated competency in database management, data cleaning, and spatial programming in RStudio. Ability to work well independently as well as within collaborative teams. Previous experience working with movement data of marked individuals, Survey123, and Google Earth Engine is preferred.
