Internship at Eastern Shore Land Conservancy

Purpose:
In efforts to preserve the prime farmland, wildlife habitats, and unique natural assets of the Eastern Shore, the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy assists landowners in exploring and implementing various conservation options for their properties, such as conservation easements. To ensure the ongoing preservation of these special places, ESLC visits landowners and inspects preserved properties on an annual basis. The Stewardship Intern will play an instrumental role by helping ESLC carry out these responsibilities. For more information about the Conservancy, please refer to our website at www.eslc.org.

Job Duties:
The Stewardship Intern will assist in monitoring our conservation eased properties by making site visits, observing and documenting changes to the properties, and completing and filing monitoring reports for each visit. The Stewardship Intern will also assist the Stewardship Manager with various administrative tasks as needed.

Training/Benefits:
In addition to the satisfaction of knowing that they are contributing to the preservation of the unique farmland on the Eastern Shore, the Land Steward Intern will receive experience in easement monitoring, stewardship management, and land conservation. $1,500 paid stipend, plus mileage.

Qualifications & Skills Required:
The ideal candidate will be pursuing an associates or bachelor's degree in natural resource management, environmental studies, or a related field. The candidate should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, enjoy working with people, interest in the land conservation field, and the ability to spend long days in the field hiking and collecting land-based property information. Strong technological skills necessary. Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle required.

Location:
The Eastern Shore Land Conservancy is located at the Eastern Shore Conservation Center located at 114 South Washington Street, Easton, Maryland.

Time Commitment: Fulltime: 40 hours/week for time agreed upon.
