Main Purpose Of Job
The CJC Crew Chief is responsible for the overall supervision of a field-based crew. The program begins Monday June 26th and concludes with a graduation ceremony on Friday July 28th. Dates are subject to change. During this five-week period, full-time availability (40 hours/week) is mandatory. Dates that fall outside this period, including training are variable and may be less than 40 hours per week.
The CJC Crew Chief shall provide direction and guidance to CJC Corps Members, ensure they utilize strategies provided in training to maintain a safe and educational work environment for youth, including but not limited to the following:
- Proper professional work ethic and behavior.
- Ensure that projects are properly, professionally and completely executed to the satisfaction of site managers.
- Manage the data selected with work projects assignments as required by the CJC Program Director.
- Conduct regular crew-based Corps Member training and instructional presentations in critical areas related to safety and professional job performance including the following:
* Environmental issues and conservation
* Community relations
* Work ethic
* Communications
* Site-specific work project, goals and activities
SALARY: new $16.00/hour, returning $17.00/hour
Education or experience in the field of park operations, recreation, education, business, administration, forestry, social sciences, or a natural resources related field is preferred.
Previous work experience with at-risk youth is preferred.
