CULTURAL LANDSCAPE VIDEO PRODUCTION ASSOCIATE
Over the past four decades, the National Park Service has produced an impressive suite of cultural landscape reports, documenting the history, condition, and significance of cultural landscapes across the United States. These reports are designed for and used primarily by National Park Service staff and partners to advance resource management and interpretation. Their content can be overwhelming for public audiences interested in an overview of the most salient and exciting aspects of a landscape’s history and significance during a short park visit.
In collaboration with the National Council for Preservation Education (NCPE), the Olmsted Center for Landscape Preservation is currently seeking a Video Production Associate to assist with creating videos that communicate the history and significance of national park cultural landscapes based on completed cultural landscape reports.
The Cultural Landscape Video Production Associate will work with Olmsted Center for Landscape Preservation staff to translate key content from completed cultural landscape reports to short videos. Through this project, the team will design, produce, edit, and distribute videos about cultural landscapes and cultural landscape stewardship for the education and inspiration of park visitors and staff.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proficiency in video production using Adobe After Effects;
- Familiarity with web publishing;
- Ability to communicate and write effectively;
- Ability to work independently and on multiple tasks;
- Interest in the National Park Service and cultural landscapes; and
- Experience or willingness to work in a multicultural environment where diversity is an institutional value.
The Cultural Landscape Video Production Associate must be currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program or have graduated within the past 12 months, a U.S. citizen/national/permanent resident, and pass a Federal background check.
This 30-week (7-month) position will be hosted at the Olmsted Center for Landscape Preservation’s office in downtown Boston. A 40-hour work week is anticipated. A $15/hour pre-tax stipend is provided, along with a monthly transit pass ($85/mo. value). A vehicle is not needed. Housing is not provided.
