Education and Outreach Environmental Specialist - Deadline 10/12/2017

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for an Education and Outreach Environmental Specialist I or II within our Environmental Dredging and Restoration Division, located at the Poplar Island ecosystem restoration facility near Tilghman, MD. Primary responsibilities include developing and delivering educational outreach programs and coordinating and conducting site tours for clients and tour groups. Both classroom and community presentations may also be required. Duties may include occasional collection of field samples, data entry, and statistical analysis of data. Periodic evening and weekend work may be necessary.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in education, biology, environmental science, ecology or related field, with a strong educational focus, plus 1-3 years of related experience. Preferred candidate will possess strong organizational and computer skills, work well in a team setting, and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must have a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points.
