JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Coordinator of Wildlife Management, Urban Wildlife Institute
DEPARTMENT: Conservation and Science
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director, Urban Wildlife Institute
GENERAL SUMMARY
Since 2009, Lincoln Park Zoo’s Urban Wildlife Institute (UWI) has studied the interaction between urbanization and wildlife, using Chicago as a model. Through local, national, and international partnerships, our collaborative research program spans the disciplines of landscape ecology, animal behavior, population biology, epidemiology, and endocrinology to increase our understanding of how animals live in cities and to create scientific standards for minimizing human-wildlife conflict.
As an integral part of the UWI team, this position will work closely with UWI’s Assistant Director and Director to develop the connection between the Institute’s broader field research program to the management of wildlife on zoo-grounds and the zoo’s education programs, and will take a lead role in supervising interns and volunteers.
