Fellowship Opportunity
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine welcomes applications for its Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program. The deadline to apply is September 8, 2017, and the 2018 session will last from January 16 until April 6. The Program offers a $9000 stipend and provides Fellows with the opportunity to spend 12 weeks at the National Academies in Washington, DC.
Fellows will:
- Learn about science and technology policy and the role that the scientific, engineering, and medical communities play in advising the nation.
- Partner with senior staff mentors to conduct literature reviews, write background papers, and analyze data.
- Have numerous opportunities to attend meetings and events outside of the National Academies.
The Mirzayan Program also offers a valuable opportunity to engage with its 770+ Mirzayan Alumni network. Alumni of the Program hold positions in Congressional committees such as the House Science and Technology Committee and at federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of State, National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, Environmental Protection Agency, United States Agency for International Development, Department of Defense, and Department of Energy. They also work in foreign governments, in international institutions such as the European Union and World Bank, in universities, and in the private sector.
Graduate and professional school students and those who have completed graduate studies within the last five years are eligible to apply. Areas of study may include social/behavioral sciences, health and medicine, physical or biological sciences, engineering, law/business/public administration, or relevant interdisciplinary fields.
