current and near-term job opportunities with ENST Ag Nutrient Management Program - for ENST graduate students

Dear ENST Graduate Students:

Some of you will be graduating in August and may be looking for work;  we’ve had great recent success hiring an ENST MS graduate student and I’d like to invite you to consider:

1)     Immediately we would like to hire a couple of hourlies; $22/hr. 40 hrs per week. Applying is as easy as sending me a one-page resume. We would be able to get you started by the end of the month if not before. This kind of position would be a great way to have income while you apply for other positions, but we’d want to have you for a few months. Fall applications with NRCS often wont be decided on till Spring, e.g.

2)     To be announced shortly: we’ll be hiring 6 salaried positions (five full-time; one 50-% time); $44k with a Master’s degree.  I’ll let you know when these positions are on eTerp.

While my job is mostly administrative I have to admit that I have the most fun when I do the type of work that the above positions will do exclusively: get to know producers and their operations and produce for them a high-quality summary of nutrient application recommendations which are based on decades of research by ENST and PSLA faculty and grad students.

Being an hourly would be a great way to have a foot in the door for one of the salaried positions. If you want to get to know Maryland Agriculture in all its diversity, there is likely no better way to do so.

Yours,

David Ruppert
