Environmental Program Instructor/Aide
Montgomery Housing Partnership (MHP) is seeking an Environmental Program Instructor and Aide to lead a youth after-school/summer club. MHP is an active and growing nonprofit organization, founded in 1989, that develops, acquires, rehabilitates, and builds quality apartment homes to meet Montgomery County’s growing need for affordable housing. MHP’s community-based projects and programs include providing affordable rents, developing educational programs for residents to develop skills that expand their opportunities and balance their lives, and implementing neighborhood revitalization efforts in troubled communities impacted by foreclosures and economic downturn.

Do you look to inspire youth to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste and to make a difference at home, at school, and in our communities? Are you looking forward to helping the next generations to make informed decisions for protecting the environment in their day-to- day life? Then, this job is for you: MHP seeks to hire one contracted, part-time, temporary instructor for an after-school/summer youth green club in the Bel Pre and Long Branch communities. Candidates should have interest, education, and skills in formal classroom teaching, tutoring or mentoring of youth ages 8 to 14, as well as knowledge and interest in basic environmental principles and practices. Experience implementing instructional
curriculum is ideal, as is the ability to speak Spanish. Instructor compensation will be $20 per hour for 6-10 hours per week of classroom, field instruction, and preparation. Aide compensation is $16 per hour. Applicants must be available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4-6 pm beginning no later than April 15 th . The program runs through October, with hours adjusted in the summer.
