Location: University of Maryland Extension – Howard County Office, Ellicott City, Maryland
This is a full-time 4-H Outreach Assistant focused primarily on recruiting and providing 4-H
programming within Howard County. This position recruits/promotes new partnerships and
provides programming to constituents while establishing formal 4-H Clubs. Works under the
direction of the 4-H Sr. Agent.

Required –
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Five years’ experience performing a variety of duties in support of the teaching, demonstration, and advising work of Extension agents or in community outreach, health care, research, or social services programs.
- Must be proficient in the use of technology including Microsoft Office products, internet, email and office equipment such as copier, printers, poster laminator, LCD projector.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle including frequent trips to College Park campus.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to interact effectively with internal and external parties in a courteous and efficient manner. Familiarity with the 4-H program, projects and basic youth development practices.

- This position is subject to a Criminal History Record Check. Employment contingent upon successful completion and clearance of the Criminal History Record Check.
Preferred –
• 1 year or more of college with coursework in education, social work or Extension.
• Experience that includes 2 years providing education to children and young adults.
Salary & Benefits:Salary will be commensurate with experience with a base salary of $35,438 per year. The
University offers an extensive benefits package.
