Student Scholarship to attend the 15th Annual SUFC Meeting

Student and Young Professional Scholarship to attend the 15th Annual SUFC Meeting

About the Meeting and Scholarship
On Wednesday, March 4, 2020, the Sustainable Urban Forests Coalition (SUFC) will host the 15th Annual Meeting at the University of Virginia's Darden Sands Family Ground Center in Arlington, VA, (9 am - 5 pm) with a reception following at the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C. For the first time, SUFC is looking to sponsor students and young professionals pursuing careers in fields related to urban forestry to attend the Annual Meeting and engage with our members.

Students and young professionals will have the opportunity to hear from leaders in different fields ranging from planning to research to technology as they relate to urban and community forestry. They will network with SUFC member organizations and learn about new projects and techniques used in urban forestry. Attendees will walk away with valuable information and connections to help them access new career pathways in the industry.

Those interested in pursuing (or exploring) a career in urban forestry or related fields are encouraged to apply. Applications are due February 6, 2020, at 11:59 PM EST; there will be no extensions granted. If selected, the meeting registration cost will be waived, and a travel and housing stipend of up to $200 will be awarded based on financial need. We will set up a brief interview call with finalists within a few days of the submission deadline. Final decisions and scholarships will be offered by Friday, February 14 via email.

Requirements:
Students who are 18 years of age or older and enrolled in an institution of higher education OR young professionals who are in entry level positions of a relevant field are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to applicants pursuing work or degrees in environmental, natural resources, public health, sciences and engineering fields, and those with an interest in environmental policy or nonprofit management.

SUFC is the nation’s only network of nonprofits, businesses, associations, foundations and others working together to advance sound, effective urban forest policy and practices. Our broad and growing membership represents urban planners, educators, arborists, landscape architects, public works and utility associations, air and water quality experts, foresters, scientists, health professionals, tree care companies, landscape and nursery associations, conservationists and community advocates.

Application deadline: Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 11:59 PM EST
