Natural Resources/ITAM Seasonal Technicians - MA

The Natural Resources and Integrated Training Area Management Office (NR/ITAM) of the MA Army National Guard is looking for three experienced, motivated field technicians for the 2020 fieldwork season. These temporary positions will run from April 6 to December 18, 2020, and pay $18.00/hour. These are contract positions, offering sick time but no benefits, vacation time, or paid holidays. Due to the diversity of wildlife projects, weekend and off-hours work may be required of these positions. Technicians are expected to remain flexible to a fluid schedule. Time will be split between floral, faunal, and restoration work.


MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Completion of a Bachelors degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, Botany or related discipline. At least one field season of on-the-job experience. Knowledge of southern New Englandflora and fauna preferred. Ability to work as part of a team required. Fieldwork is required in all weather conditions and in challenging terrain. All positions require a driver’s license and safe driving record, the ability to safely operate 4x4 vehicles on dirt roads, and the ability to work effectively and in cooperation with co-workers and other military and civilian personnel. Other desirable experience includes radiotelemetry, rare turtle surveys, rare species monitoring for construction projects, acoustic monitoring, aquatic invertebrate and amphibian identification, plant identification and independent field experience.

This posting will be utilized to fill three positions. The technicians will work together on most projects, though ideally two positions will be specialized in wildlife projects and one will be specialized in plant, habitat and training site projects.
