Fruit project internship - UMD

INTERNSHIP* OPPORTUNITY SUMMER 2020 FOR WORKING WITH INTERDISCIPLINARY FRUIT PROJECTS!!

Do you enjoy eating fruits?
Would you like to help make fruits taste better and decrease food loss/waste?

Requirements: anyone interested in the areas of Plant Science/Fruit Physiology/Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Food Science, and enjoys eating delicious fruits and learning a lot! This opportunity has a combination of ALL of these!

At the Farcuh Lab in the Department of Plant Sciences and Landscape Architecture, UMD, we are looking for interns to help with the data collection process on a series of interdisciplinary projects.

Interested students would be exposed to a broad array of disciplines including:
• postharvest quality measurements (color, firmness, soluble solids concentration, titratable acidity, etc),
• measurement of fruit hormones and respiration,
• sample preparation for gene expression, enzymatic assays and metabolite analysis.
• fruit harvesting,
• and more....

All during the ripening process of a diverse panel of delicious fruits with different flavor profiles!!!

I require interns with 100%-time availability during the Summer.
