Watersheds Stewards Academy

A 25-hour certificate course offered by the Anacostia Watershed Society with assistance from an iSchool research team will be held at 2105 Hornbake Hall, South Wing, on the University of Maryland campus (and nearby sites) this fall.

Learn about
  • ·       Watershed issues from the national to local scale
  • ·       Best practices for stormwater management
  • ·       Ways to engage community members in environmental projects
  • ·       How technology can support environmental education and communication efforts


Get hands-on experience with
  • ·       A boat tour of the Anacostia River
  • ·       A site audit
  • ·       A walk-through of an exemplary municipal facility
  • ·       A class Capstone project
  • ·       Planning your own project


Meet inspiring environmental professionals and passionate volunteers during seven sessions:
  • ·       Tuesday, September 20, 6 to 9pm
  • ·       Saturday, September 24, 11am to 3pm
  • ·       Tuesday, September 27, 6 to 9pm
  • ·       Tuesday, October 4, 6 to 8pm
  • ·       Saturday, October 8, 11am to 3pm
  • ·       Tuesday, October 11, 6 to 9pm
  • ·       Saturday, October 15, 9am to 3pm
