Applied Ecology:  This special topics class will cover the applications of ecological principles in the applied world of restoration ecology and cutting edge ecological engineering.  Using case studies of conceptual, prototyped and built projects, students will be exposed to the practical side of developing and implementing projects covering topics from project bidding, concept development, site selection and assessment, modeling, permitting and construction. Guest lectures from project managers/designers/engineers on real world projects with site visits of local area project locations will enhance the student’s knowledge and exposure to the burgeoning field of applied restoration ecology.
