Chesapeake Bay Engineer/Technician - Lebanon PA

Overview:
Capital Resource Conservation and Development Area Council (Capital RC&D), a regional non-profit organization, seeks to employ a Chesapeake Bay Engineer or Technician to work in partnership with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to protect the Bay. The Chesapeake Bay Engineer will, provide assistance to the NRCS field offices in south central and south eastern Pennsylvania with the design and implementation of best management practices for protecting water quality and preventing soil loss. Conservation practices include but are not limited to: waterways, diversions, water control structures, subsurface drainage, stream crossings, spring developments, livestock watering systems, heavy use area protection, wastewater treatment systems, manure storage facilities, and composting facilities. 


Duties:
1. Work with NRCS technicians to identify resource concerns and propose solutions
2. Survey for conservation practices
3. Design conservation practices according to the NRCS standards
4. Draft professional construction drawings using AutoCAD
5. Develop material and cost estimates
6. Supervise and inspect construction of conservation practices
7. Work will be split between office work and field work, potentially in adverse weather conditions or difficult terrain

The engineer/technician should have the ability to work in a team setting within a small office environment. A valid driver’s license and use of a motor vehicle are also required. Interested candidates should submit a resume by November 30, 2017


Minimum Qualifications:
1. 4 year degree in agricultural/civil engineering or related field for engineering applicant. 2 year associate degree from Technical school in Surveying, Drafting, Construction Management or equivalent experience.
2. Familiarity with AutoCAD software
3. Surveying experience including use of GPS and Total Station equipment
4. Ag background or experience preferred 

5. EIT/PE license not required for engineering position(Experience gained in this position could count toward this goal)
