The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Wildlife and Heritage Service, is currently accepting applications for one Seasonal Contractual Natural Resources Technician. The technician will assist staff with the management of non-native invasive species, especially Japanese barberry, Miscanthus, sericea lespedeza, tree-of-heaven, mile-a-minute vine, autumn olive, and bush honeysuckles. Responsibilities will require the use of herbicides and hand-held tools and equipment such as herbicide applicators. Technician will be responsible for implementing scheduled priority activities and documenting results. Technician will also assist with preparation for prescribed burns and with occasional weekend volunteer habitat management activities. Primary work location is in Baltimore County, but work will also take place in other parts of the state as needed.

Wildlife Biological Science Technician duties at all grade levels include: Implement established natural resource management projects related to wildlife (small/large mammals such as bear, deer, bats, shorebirds, etc.) following standard procedures/protocols. Collects, organize, and record field monitoring data to produce/prepare reports, charts, and presentations to management and/or a diverse public audience with varying levels of interest and knowledge. Perform wildlife trap transects, wildlife cameras surveys, grid surveys, mist netting, etc. to monitor and assess wildlife. Assess resource related issues to determine wildlife management plans. Use and maintain wildlife management equipment.

Conservation Technician III - Wildlife
This position within the Wildlife/Fisheries Construction Team will perform major construction and maintenance projects on state wildlife areas, state fisheries ponds and public boat ramps located throughout the state. This position operates heavy and specialized construction equipment including dump trucks, tractor trailers, bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, air boats, and weed/ algae harvesters in the safest and most cost-effective manner; builds, repairs, and maintains dikes, impoundments, ponds, parking lots and roads, and installs and repairs water structures, floating dock systems and culverts; assists in maintenance and repairs of equipment and assists in the training and supervision of lower-level Conservation Technicians and seasonals. Other duties may include assisting staff biologists with biological data collection including at deer checking stations.
