Hiring Post-doc in Tackling Food Insecurity

Reducing Food Waste and Food Insecurity – Modeling, Technology, and Business

 

A successful candidate should have a background in increasing food security, with experience in modeling, GIS, life cycle assessment (LCA), and/or business incubation for increasing food security. The candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, IT, business entrepreneurship, social socialists, and extension specialists on bringing technology to markets that aid in reducing food waste and increasing food security. The candidate should have a background or strong familiarity with modeling, IT, or entrepreneurship. Knowledge of anaerobic digestion and composting processes of food waste is desired, not required. Necessary soft skills include project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to help manage large teams and keep personnel on-task.

This position will involve modeling, business development, and technology implementation, with no laboratory-based analytical work. A PhD is required. The post-doc position is a one-year, 100% research position, with no teaching responsibilities.

 

The expected start date (in Maryland, USA) is March 1, 2023 for the project. The expected base salary is $54,000 USD/yr, with a University of Maryland benefits package.
