We are looking for a nongame mammal specialty (could be bats or other species) but more broad natural history background as well. This person would work with partners including the review of state forest plans, and would also be active in reviewing proposed projects on private lands. This is more of a senior level position with prior experience expected (advanced degrees can count for that). Here is a summary of the main purpose of the job: This position is responsible for the conservation and management of unique natural communities and rare, Threatened or Endangered species, primarily within the western region of Maryland, and for statewide guidance on the conservation and management of small mammals and other areas of specific zoological expertise. The incumbent must coordinate staff interactions with government and academia to generate reports which synopsize data from a wide variety of sources in order to satisfy grant requirements in a timely manner. A creative problem-solving approach is often required to resolve the frequent conflicts inherent in managing human interaction with natural ecosystems.
Please pass on to good candidates with the deadline of today, or colleagues that might know of good candidates with a nongame mammal specialty. This has been posted on some of the typical free job listserves, so hopefully folks have already seen this.
