Environmental Education Intern - Dingmans Ferry PA

Environmental Education Intern
Dingmans Ferry PA

PEEC internships provide an excellent opportunity for individuals to gain first-hand experience in the day-to-day operations of a residential environmental education center. PEEC Interns will handle similar responsibilities to our instructors, with the addition of special internship trainings and projects. Responsibilities will include offering lessons and activities addressing a wide range of topics relating to natural history and ecology, environmental issues, outdoor living skills, teamwork, and communication. Group participants range from pre-school children to adults.

Internships are normally 3 to 4 months, but can be 2 to 10 months. Responsibilities will include:
Plan and deliver environmental education programs
Develop program activities & lessons facilitated at the center
Facility upkeep and receptionist activities

PEEC internships are often used to complement a college degree program in Environmental Studies or related discipline, and can be arranged in partnership with a college or university to provide academic credit. Our strongest intern applicants are enrolled in, or have recently completed, coursework in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Education, or related disciplines. Experience teaching and/or working with groups is preferred and we look for an ability to work independently and as a team player, a positive and progressive mindset, and an orientation towards working to complete tasks with quality. Certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED and/or Lifeguarding are desirable. Alumni of AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, or other National and Community Service programs are encouraged to apply. All hires must submit to Criminal Background checks, including fingerprinting & child abuse clearances.

Internships stipend: $150 per week plus room and board.
