DeGraaf Nature Center.  Naturalist-interns become part of an on-going environmental education program that serves area schools and the general public. Weekend lectures, field trips, natural history walks and special events for the general public are also provided. West Michigan is rich in wooded dunes, lakes and wildlife and is an ideal place to teach many environmental concepts. Interns will teach, plan and implement programs and classes. A project dealing with wildlife, conservation or a subject that the intern is familiar with is also expected. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about the operation of a community nature center; budgets, staffing and maintenance. Training and supervision provided.

Qualifications: College student or graduate with significant coursework in biology, natural resources, environmental education, fisheries and wildlife, outdoor recreation or a related field. A strong interest in teaching a variety of people about natural history and the environment is required.

Starting Date: Early May
Position is 26-28 hours per week.
Pay is $8.50 per hour. Housing and utilities provided in a historic 1870s farmhouse.
