The
Scientific Aid will assist staff (including me) under the site cleanup and land
disposal programs overseeing remediation and monitoring of toxic sites;
including mines, landfills, and chemical manufacturing and storage facilities.
I am looking for assistance in prioritizing and coordinating inoperative mine
inspections and cleanups, but the Aid will assist in a broad range of projects
in these programs. This position will involve working closely with me and
other Water Board staff, and potentially directly communicating with the public
(written and verbal communication skills important). It will include a
significant amount of computer time (Microsoft Excel and Word experience
important), and some site inspections (hiking experience important).
Several
Scientific Aids who’ve worked with us in the past have procured positions at
environmental consulting firms, other government agencies, and with the
regulated community. Some have returned to the Water Board in full-time, staff
level positions.
Thanks
and Happy Holidays!
