POSITION INFORMATION: Full-Time during summer months. - Intern-indefinite positions are expected to last the duration of the student's academic attendance.

Students must be able to work two summers in the program therefore candidates must not be eligible to graduate before December 2017.

About the Agency
Reclamation is seeking an entry level Intern-indefinite looking for an opportunity to gain practical experience as a Natural Resources trainee. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment.
This position is expected to be converted to a Natural Resource Specialist position (GS-0401) at the GS-05 grade level, which may have further promotion potential, (See Education Requirements section)
This is a career development opportunity in the excepted service under the Bureau of Reclamation's Pathways Internship Program. It is designed to provide students currently enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, with opportunities to work and get paid while exploring federal careers.
This Pathways Internship is a Regional Leadership Board sponsored-rotational internship. Rotational interns will be stationed at different locations within the Great Plains (GP) Region each summer in the states of Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, or Wyoming. Students are required to be mobile for summer assignments and upon graduation. Rotational assignments are intended to last for a minimum of 2 summers before the student graduates. Students may work during school year if location of school attending allows for physical reporting to a GP duty station.

Summer 2016 Position Location: Rapid City, South Dakota and Bismarck, North Dakota. Dependent on need other locations may be filled. Work will be performed in and around these areas. You must be able to report to locations for duty no later than May 31st, 2016 in order to be eligible for this job opportunity.

Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid by DOI. Relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty at the location designated will be the responsibility of the selected employee. Students may be paid travel to and from school and a stipend for living expenses.
Additional positions or at different locations may be filled as needs of the agency warrant.

KEY REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 16 years old to apply and seeking a Bachelor's degree.

DUTIES:
-Performs a wide variety of routine duties in support of higher-graded Natural Resource Specialists and Environmental Resource staff.
-Performs preparation of technical/regulatory manuals, resource management contracts and data collection/compilation of various reports such as Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules, Endangered Protection Act (NEPA), Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act and the Endangered Species Act.
-Accompanies staff to meetings and coordinates activities with other agencies and/or tribes.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education/Experience Requirements:
Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment for the next quarter/semester with an accredited college or university at least part-time, progressing towards a Bachelor's degree, and in good academic standing (as defined by the school). It is the intent that candidates be pursuing a degree in Natural Resources or Biological Science.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: You must meet the Basic Education Qualification Requirements listed below:
--GS-03: Completion of 1 full academic year of post-high school study. One year of full-time academic study is defined as completion of 30 semester hours or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.
--GS-04: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an Associate's degree. Two years of full-time academic study is defined as completion of 60 semester hours or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.
